A fun and culture-filled weekend in Hungary's capital
Budapest is a magical city formed of two halves with quite distinct characters: elegant, historic Buda and lively, happening Pest. A weekend at the sleek TRIBE Budapest Stadium in Pest puts you right next to the Groupama Arena and the MVM Dome, with easy access to the city’s iconic attractions and vibrant bars, and walking distance from the beautiful Danube.
Budapest is known for its flea markets, and one of the most famous is Ecseri, a treasure trove of antiques and collectables, which is a short drive from TRIBE. The market opens at 6am on Saturdays, so arrive early to find the best bits.

Once you’ve had your fill of bargain hunting, head to Heroes’ Square and the Museum of Fine Arts, which houses an extensive collection of European art and offers a deep dive into artistic masterpieces from across the ages.
Then take the tram across the river to the Vasarely Museum in Óbuda. Dedicated to the works of Victor Vasarely, the father of op art, the museum showcases his vibrant and geometric artworks in a historic setting.

In the evening, head back to Pest and dine at a Michelin-starred restaurant. Babel is next to the Danube and serves modern Hungarian cuisine using Hungarian and Transylvanian ingredients, while Costes, the country’s first restaurant to receive the coveted star, serves locally sourced gourmet food rooted in Hungarian traditions.
Budapest is known for great bars, particularly its ‘ruin bars’ housed in run-down historic buildings, mostly in the Jewish Quarter. Start at Szimpla Kert, which offers an eclectic mix of art, music, and drinks, capturing the city's bohemian spirit.

For a more upscale yet relaxed atmosphere, visit Mazel Tov, a Mediterranean bar and restaurant that serves delicious cuisine in a vibrant and beautifully designed space, often accompanied by live music. On Sunday morning, walk off the night before’s excesses with a leisurely stroll along the Danube River Promenade, a picturesque path with stunning views of Buda Castle, the Parliament Building, and the Chain Bridge.
If you have the afternoon to play with, head to Városliget Park (City Park) next to Heroes’ Square, which houses Budapest Zoo, Vajahunyad Castle and Széchenyi Thermal Baths, where you can do as the locals do and soak away your troubles in various elegant and scorching pools.
